Week 9 News

This is late. REALLY late, but better late than never. =P

Greetings Circle K'ers!

Oh my, it's 9th week already! Hope you've been cracking down on those
books! Good luck on all your finals next week, and have a spectacular
spring break! This week is our last meeting, so please come out and
celebrate with us—there will be pizza and drinks for free! See you
again next quarter, when the new Circle K year starts. :)

ANNOUCEMENTS:

- This week's meeting is in Ackerman Viewpoint Conference Room 2,
located in the hallway next to Campus Cuts on the A-level of Ackerman
Union. Thursday at 6:30PM as always. (Even if you can't make it, feel
free to sign up through e-mail for our upcoming projects!)

- Before the meeting (optional since we'll have pizza and drinks AT
the meeting): Join us for our Dorm Dinner Social at 5:30PM in De Neve
Dining Hall! HEY APARTMENT PEOPLE, no worries, we can swipe you in (go
Premier!). Come and enjoy the yummy food and great company!

- After the meeting: Join Jennifer and the scrapbook committee as we
continue working on our club's scrapbook for the year! We'll be
entering it into the contest at Convention, so we need all your help
to make it the best it can possibly be!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

1) Saturday, March 12, 2005
TOTAL K DAY: Division 1 is sponsoring an event with AbilityFirst, an
organization that serves children and adults with neurological and
physical disabilities. In order to better serve these amazing people,
the non-profit organization needs to update their facilities. Upon
hearing this, our division immediately responded. This Saturday, we
will be painting and gardening inside and around the office and
facilities. Among dozens of our other family members, we will revamp
the dreary location (8090 Crenshaw Blvd, Inglewood, CA 90305-1218). We
will leave from Sproul Turnaround at 8AM and return by 2:30. Our
Kiwanians will provide lunch. Have questions? Need to reserve your
spot? Contact Uyen: uh_211@yahoo.com ASAP! She's anxiously waiting to
hear from you.

2) Sunday, March 13, 2005
CONVENTION PREP DAY: Whether or not you're going to Convention this
year, come join us at David's apartment as we spend the day Circle
K'ing! We'll be working hardcore on the scrapbook—which is looking
really cool already—and eating and bonding, as well as finalizing
plans for the weekend. The fun starts at 3PM, so meet at Sproul
Turnaround at 2:45PM. Contact David: drdrayfromla@hotmail.com

3) Friday – Sunday, March 18 – 20, 2005
CAL-NEV-HA 51ST DISTRICT CONVENTION: This month, join the rest of
California-Nevada-Hawaii Circle K as we celebrate our year of service!
There will be workshops, dances, lots of spirit, a talent show,
elections for next year's District Board (we have three candidates
from our club alone!), and much more! Come get a feeling of what
Circle K outside our club is like, because we are part of an amazing
district! And don't worry—free time will be scheduled for you to bond
and/or study for finals. Don't miss out on this memorable event that
comes around only once a year! So make your way to San Mateo for
Convention 2005: Service and the City! We're subsidizing for
registration, so it'll only be $90, which includes the hotel! Please
contact David ASAP if you're interested in going: drdrayfromla@hotmail.com

4) Sunday, April 3, 2005
METRO OFFICER TRAINING CONFERENCE: New officers and chairs, as well as
any interested Circle K members, are invited to this awesome training
conference with the rest of the clubs in our division! Kiwanians will
be running workshops and helping you get off to a great start in the
new Circle K year. Held at CSU Dominguez Hills, registration begins at
1PM and training will end by 5PM, followed by a Divisional Council
Meeting. Questions? Contact Christine: ccanute@msn.com & to sign up,
contact Michelle: mawall@ucla.edu

5) Saturday – Sunday, April 16-17, 2005
RELAY FOR LIFE: Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event
designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research,
advocacy, education, and patient services programs of the American
Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools,
fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each
team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
